The courtroom had family members and treatment teams appearing for support and comment. As the hours went by, the hearings were ticked off the list, and the courtroom slowly emptied until only lawyers, two advocates and the zoom attendees were left. **Preliminary appearances and arraignments:** Lonnie Kohrdt was charged on September 3 with two counts of escape in the second degree. He refused to appear in court or on zoom for his arraignment. The court continued his arraignment to September 18. David Stenhouse was charged on September 9 with arson in the second degree—two grocery carts in the QFC parking lot. He was appointed to the Jefferson Associated Counsel. He waived his rights for a formal reading of his charges and entered a not guilty plea. Stenhouse’s attorney, Scott Charlton, brought up his conditions of release and asked for Stenhouse to be released on his personal recognizance to go to the hospital. The court denied the request, expecting the jail is able to take care of his medical needs and suggested a future motion for furlough for medical treatment if they are not. The court set Stenhouse’s bail at $29,000\. His omnibus hearing is set for October 9, with his pretrial set for October 30 and trial the week of November 9\. Malia VanLelyveld-Gifford had a preliminary appearance after being charged on August 25, as an accomplice to assault of a minor with a deadly weapon. Jefferson Associated Counsel is already representing her co-defendant. Because of the conflict, she is awaiting counsel assignment through county administrator inquiries to local attorneys, known as conflict counsel. She was released on her own recognizance and her arraignment will be September 30\. **Sentencings:** Anthony Lara was sentenced to two months in prison with 12 months of community custody after release, he is required to get a substance abuse evaluation and a domestic violence evaluation for a domestic violence charge of assault in the third degree and two counts of disclosing intimate images. A five year no contact order was put in place. The victim of the assault stated in their impact statement, “I agreed to the low sentence because my main objective was to have these charges be on his record.” Tarah Deutsch was given a residential Drug Offender Sentencing Alternative of 24 months in residential custody for attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle, with a release for treatment on September 14 and a dismissal of counts two and three driving with suspended license. Judge Brandon Mack said, “I hope you appreciate how lucky you are to be alive.” Deutsch addressed the court to say how she is looking forward to completing treatment. Andrew Gaikowski had a resentencing hearing where DOC had flagged an error on sentencing. Parties agreed to amend the sentence within the midpoint of the standard range rather than an exceptional upward sentence, for burglary in the second degree, theft of a motor vehicle and theft in the second degree. Judge Mack said, “Start chipping away at your restitution. You can ultimately get the interest waived if you’re consistent.” Kiersten Anderson has been in Drug Court for the last three years as part of her diversion sentencing. She is choosing to opt out, meaning the prosecution negotiated a new sentencing. Anderson pleaded guilty to second degree malicious mischief, and was sentenced to 66 days in prison, with credit for 66 days already served, she will not have to go back for these charges, and will have 12 months community custody. Anderson thanked the Court for all the support over the past three years and the court commended her on all of her progress. **Updates:** Gabriel Schuler will be accepting a Drug Court offer. Tracey Muir failed to appear for a second week in a row. The court issued a $10,000 warrant. Aaron Arnes, Gina Cordova, Kristen Kowal, Tia Galpatrick and Selena Rubio all asked for continuances.
