Thank you. You are our Beacon!

This is a personal thank you from The Beacon. You just became a donor at some level; the amount of your donation isn't important. Giving any amount is what matters to us. You've stepped into our inner circle and deserve our gratitude. Not only does a donation say that you believe in The Beacon, but that you believe in supporting local journalism. That means so much to us because journalism can be a tough job.

There are funny or heartwarming human interest stories that keep us going. But there are other times when people abuse their position, or simply make mistakes which dramatically affect our community. When we discover questionable behavior, being a journalist means standing in integrity: If we choose not to report on bad behavior we know about, that's wrong. In those terrifying moments, journalism becomes the highest possible expression of civic duty.

Your financial support is our beacon. To us, it is a signal without ambiguity why The Beacon matters. Our mission is to keep the community better informed to make better decisions, even if it means holding up truth to power.

You just became a part of that mission. Thank you.
