Treasurer/Finance Chair for Board of Directors
The Beacon is currently seeking a treasurer and finance chair for its Board of Directors.
The Beacon is a nonprofit news organization based in Jefferson County, Washington and we are currently recruiting a treasurer/finance chair to serve on our volunteer Board of Directors.
The position oversees financial health, budgeting, and transparency for The Beacon. Financial or accounting experience is preferred but not essential. The time commitment is 8-10 hours per month.

Responsibilities
- As a member of the Board of Directors, attends in-person monthly board meetings
- Reviews financial records and reports; raises concerns as needed
- Ensures financial transparency and state and federal legal compliance
- Communicates regularly with the board about financial operations
- Supports the development of a sustainable annual budget and financial practices
- Assists the bookkeeper, accountant, and secretary in preparing financial documents and reports
Skills
- Detail-oriented individual with basic bookkeeping skills and knowledge of general accounting practices
- Familiarity with QuickBooks Online accounting software is a plus
