Letter to the Editor: Yes for Prop 1

Holy cow! We might lose our Parks and Rec in Jefferson County. What does this mean? Believe it or not, there are 23 County parks, 19 recreation programs (for kids and adults), 6 playgrounds, 18 water access points, and trails. There are 6 community centers that provide meeting/activity space, serve as locations for most Food Banks, and offer free senior meals. The JeffCo Fairgrounds, with the Little League field, campgrounds, tool library, and 4-H, will be nixed. The County had to slash its 2026 budgets, like almost every other entity I can think of, due to the economy, the war, Federal budget cuts, and inflation. Unfortunately, Parks and Rec is an unfunded mandate; therefore, the County has asked Jefferson County voters to support the Parks and Rec. Please vote for Prop 1. Say Yes to Parks and Rec.
