Letter to the Editor: Irondale Beach Need More than Volunteers

I have been visiting Irondale Beach Park since before it was a park. Back when we’d come to Hadlock every summer, I walked that beach before it had a name. We moved here permanently 22 years ago, and for the last 15 years I’ve been a volunteer helping to maintain it.

What I’ve come to understand is that Irondale Beach isn’t just a park. It’s a community. A place where everyone belongs, where people come to relax, enjoy, and share something together. I can’t imagine this place without it.

The handwriting is on the wall. The Parks need help, and I’ve seen it firsthand. I’m currently part of a group who just started a nonprofit to help keep Irondale maintained, sustainable, and open to the public. But volunteers and nonprofits can only do so much. That’s why Proposition 1 matters.

Please vote APPROVED for Jefferson County Parks and Recreation on August 4th.
